Our adventure continues as we head towards the Altiplanic Lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques. These twin lagoons mirror the majestic Andes Mountains and the expansive sky in their pristine waters, located within the Los Flamencos National Reserve.

Following our visit to the sister lagoons, we will proceed to Laguna Chaxa, which forms part of the Salar de Atacama. This saline lagoon is a magnet for flamingos and other aquatic birds, thanks to its high salt and nutrient concentration, allowing us to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural setting.

Today, we'll depart from our hotel between approximately 06:00 and 06:30 hrs to maximize our day, setting off on an exhilarating journey through some of the most breathtaking and varied landscapes you have ever encountered.


Upon leaving San Pedro, we'll begin our ascent to an altitude of around 4,000 meters above sea level, where we'll encounter the striking Piedras Rojas, a geological formation featuring intensely red rocks nestled in the heart of the altiplano. The contrast between the vibrant red stones and the turquoise lake is truly mesmerizing. Here, we'll have ample time to explore and capture photos of this surreal setting.

We'll continue our climb to nearly 4,200 meters above sea level to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques Altiplanic Lagoons, stunning high-altitude sister lagoons located within the Los Flamencos National Reserve. Surrounded by majestic mountains, these lagoons offer a unique opportunity to observe birdlife and photograph extraordinary landscapes. This location is perfect for appreciating the region's natural beauty and wildlife.

After exploring the lagoons, we'll head to the Chaxa Lagoon, part of the expansive Salar de Atacama. Chaxa is a salt lagoon that draws in flamingos and other aquatic birds due to its high salt and nutrient levels. Here, we'll have the chance to observe these magnificent birds in their natural environment and learn about the area's unique flora and fauna.

The Salar de Atacama is Chile's largest salt flat and one of the most extensive in the world. We'll have the opportunity to walk through the salt flat, marvel at the stunning salt formations, and take in the vastness of the landscape. Additionally, during our visit, our guide will ensure we find the perfect spots with postcard-worthy views to enjoy breakfast and lunch.

After exploring these natural wonders, we'll make our way back to San Pedro de Atacama. We'll conclude near the municipal parking lot, allowing you to explore the charming town on foot or return to your hotel independently. If you prefer, we can also provide a private service to drop you off at your hotel.
